Zoo to mark 150th anniversary
The Leisure & Cultural Services Department announced that it will hold a kick-off ceremony to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Zoological & Botanical Gardens & Evening Musical Performance on November 6.
The event, scheduled to take place at the Fountain Terrace Garden from 4.30pm to 6pm, aims to commemorate the gardens' services over one and a half centuries and display its new image under the brand theme, Urban Forest Living as One.
In addition to a sand painting art performance, the occasion will include music performances of the string, Chinese percussion and pipa ensembles, a saxophone quartet and the Music Office Youth Choir, as well as singing entertainment by STARS Academy graduates.
Entry to the musical performances will start at 3.30pm on a first come, first served basis. The audience may sit on the lawn area around the stage to enjoy various performances starting from 4pm.
Other celebratory activities including guided visits, thematic talks on greening and conservation and game booths will also be held onsite for public participation from 2pm to 6pm.
