3 imported COVID-19 cases found

October 26, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating three additional imported COVID-19 cases, two of which involve the L452R mutant strain while the remaining case's mutation test result is pending.

Among the patients, aged 28 to 65, two women arrived in Hong Kong from Pakistan via the United Arab Emirates and one man was from Singapore.

One of them was confirmed infected with COVID-19 during quarantine and the others tested positive upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport.

Additionally, in relation to a preliminary positive imported case and a previous imported case, since the two patients had respectively stayed in Hong Kong during the incubation period, 10 places have been included in a compulsory testing notice. Those who have completed a COVID-19 vaccination course still have to be tested.

This compulsory testing notice also covers six schools or workshops due to an outbreak of upper respiratory tract infection or influenza-like illness there. People who have finished a jab course, however, can be exempted.

Meanwhile, specified people linked to Tower 1, Grand Promenade in Sai Wan Ho are reminded to undergo testing tomorrow in accordance with their compulsory testing notice. The Government will set up mobile specimen collection stations at the open area outside Graceful Mansion, Siena Two in Discovery Bay and Grand Promenade Carpark L1 tomorrow to provide free testing service.

The service period of the temporary extension of the airport’s community testing centre at South Transition Deck, L6, Terminal 1 will be extended to November 3, while that of the mobile specimen collection station at Tung Chung North Park will be extended to November 30.

A total of 59 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.
