Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung today officiated at a ceremony to launch the Active Students, Active People Campaign (ASAP Campaign).

The ceremony was held to kick off the promotion of students’ regular participation in physical activities through the campaign and showcase their achievements.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Yeung said the Education Bureau launched the ASAP Campaign this year with the aim of rallying the efforts of schools, families and other stakeholders in society to promote a better sports atmosphere in schools and encourage students to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle.

Under the campaign, the bureau will organise citywide student activities, strengthen teacher training and design diversified and interesting learning and teaching resources to support schools' promotion of physical activities on all fronts.

It will also further promote parent-child sports activities and collaborate with different organisations and universities to develop students’ active and healthy lifestyles.

To tie in with the World Health Organization's recommendation, the bureau advises that primary and secondary students should accumulate an average of at least 60 minutes each day of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activities across the week.

A one-stop online portal was also initiated to showcase Hong Kong students' diverse learning outcomes in values education, languages, humanities, creativity and problem-solving.

The online portal will also be used to highlight the skills students attained through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, arts and culture and physical development.

The e-Gallery will occasionally announce the outstanding achievements of students in local, national and international competitions and recommend competitions of various types for schools to nominate student participants.

Additionally, the web-based portal will hold online exhibitions to display students' attainments in whole-person development and provide opportunities for students and teachers to learn from one another.
