Oath submission reminder issued

October 4, 2021

The Registration & Electoral Office today reminded Election Committee members-elect to sign and submit the written oaths by the statutory deadline of October 15.

Pursuant to the Chief Executive Election Ordinance, the Electoral Registration Officer must not include the name of a member-elect of a term of office in the final register of Election Committee members for that term of office unless the officer has received the written oaths signed by the member-elect.

The office published the interim register of the committee members on September 27 and issued letters inviting members-elect to submit the written oaths on the same day.

As of October 3, a total of 327 members-elect have submitted their written oaths.

The office said that all members-elect must sign and submit the written oaths by October 15 such that they could be included in the final register to be published on October 22 and become a member of the new term committee.

Members-elect can submit their written oaths through making their own arrangement to engage a solicitor who holds a current practising certificate or visiting the special counter set up by the Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Bureau at the Central Government Offices.

Those who are now in the Mainland or outside the country may contact the Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Bureau or Registration & Electoral Office for assistance to make appropriate arrangements.
