The Government's outreach team will provide a COVID-19 vaccination service at Shek Lei Community Hall from Thursday to Saturday for residents, in particular the elderly, to receive the Sinovac jab.

Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip distributed leaflets at Shek Lei Shopping Centre and visited a singleton senior living in Shek Lei Estate (II) today to call on citizens to get vaccinated.

He said: “Reaching out to the community and focusing on the elderly are the priorities of the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme at this stage. We would also like to learn more about people's thoughts and, most importantly, provide services that can meet the users' needs.”

In addition to a one-stop service covering talks, a health consultation and on-site vaccination at the district level, the Government will organise activities at shopping malls and housing estates to further assist the public, in particular seniors who have activities in places close to their homes to get vaccinated, Mr Nip added.

Given the threat posed by mutant strains, those who are suitable should get vaccinated as early as possible to protect themselves and reduce the risk of falling seriously ill and dying should they get infected. People, in particular the elderly, are urged to get the jab before the winter influenza season arrives.

The outreach vaccination service at Shek Lei Community Hall will be available from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm.
