Kevin Yeung commends students

Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung (centre) presents certificates to awardees of the Law-abidingness & Empathy Poster Design Competition.
Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung today commended the award-winning schools and students in various values education competitions this school year.
Speaking at the 2020-21 Values Education Prize Presentation Ceremony and My Pledge to Act annual sharing session, Mr Yeung emphasised that values education is an essential part of the school curriculum.
He said that during the anti-epidemic period, it is particularly important to enable students through values education to face adversity with positive attitudes, uphold positive values, follow the Government’s anti-epidemic measures and fulfil civic responsibilities.
In the 2020-21 school year, about 550 schools have participated in My Pledge to Act. The Education Bureau organised a number of values education competitions, such as the Short Video on Schools’ Experience in Promoting Reflections on the COVID-19 Outbreak, and the Law-abidingness & Empathy Poster Design Competition.
A total of 1,700 entries from 200 kindergartens, primary and secondary schools were received.
Mr Yeung said the entries were full of creativity and positive energy. He also appreciated that during the epidemic, teachers and parents have proactively participated in cultivating positive values in the next generation.
He expressed hope that more stakeholders will join in the future.
At the ceremony, Mr Yeung also kicked off My Pledge to Act (MPA) for the next school year. Along with other activities, the bureau will launch the MPA Ambassador school-based award scheme.
