Commissioner of Police Tang Ping-keung today said an in-depth and impartial investigation is being carried out into the alleged misconduct of a senior police officer.

Mr Tang told reporters this afternoon that Director of National Security Frederic Choi has been placed on leave pending an investigation.

Noting that Police take the conduct of officers seriously, the police chief said the Organized Crime & Triad Bureau has been assigned to investigate the case to ensure it is conducted in a fair, impartial, in-depth and professional manner.

Mr Tang emphasised that the allegation would not compromise the work of the National Security Department.

“I think the work of the National Security Department will not be affected by an investigation into an allegation (against) an individual officer because we are a team and we work as a team.

“The overall work of the National Security Department will not be affected.”
