People working in places that require COVID-19 testing every two weeks will no longer need to be tested 14 days after they receive two doses of vaccine.

Secretary for Food & Health Prof Sophia Chan explained to reporters this afternoon that this applies to teachers and staff at schools and construction workers.

She said: “With enough supply of vaccine doses in Hong Kong, with the consolidation of all the work that we have done so far and also with risk assessment, we have come to terms that if people have been vaccinated with two doses and after 14 days, then this can replace the regular 14-day testing for those working in scheduled premises under Hong Kong Laws Cap 599F.

“We have also communicated with the Education Bureau and the Development Bureau. Therefore for teachers, if they have been vaccinated with two doses and after 14 days, then this can also replace their current testing arrangement and the same goes for construction workers.”
