Avoid crowds when sweeping graves

March 11, 2021

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today urged the public to stagger their visits to cemeteries and columbaria for the upcoming Ching Ming Festival to avoid gatherings and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

The opening hours of the department’s public columbaria will be extended to 7am to 7pm two weeks before and after the festival, or from March 20 to April 18.

People who visit cemeteries and columbaria should avoid meal gatherings at worship sites or in crowded places.

They should maintain appropriate social distancing with other people, comply with relevant regulations on prevention and control of disease and maintain good personal hygiene.

They should also keep the environment clean when sweeping graves, and pay attention to special traffic and transport arrangements.

The FEHD will step up cleaning services inside public cemeteries and columbaria during the festival period.

Additionally, the public can pay tribute to their deceased loved ones via an FEHD dedicated webpage and its mobile application.
