Hospital Authority reports virus case

An operation assistant of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Queen Mary Hospital has tested positive for COVID-19 today.

 

The Hospital Authority said the assistant was arranged to be quarantined on February 23 as her household member tested positive for the virus.

 

She developed a low-grade fever two days later and underwent a COVID-19 test on the same day. The test result was positive.

 

She has been admitted to the community treatment facility.

 

Upon learning that the staff member would be quarantined, the hospital infection control team conducted contact tracing.

 

She was arranged to undergo a COVID-19 test at the time and the result was negative.

 

The confirmed staff is mainly responsible for the transportation of documents and environmental cleansing and her last day at work was February 22.

 

She had no contact with patients and wore a surgical mask during work. No patients or staff were identified as a close contact.

 

The hospital will arrange COVID-19 tests for six staff members in the same office.

 

The authority added thorough cleansing and disinfection had been conducted at the office.
