Virus testing enhanced

February 16, 2021

The Government today said it is further enhancing the supply of COVID-19 testing services to cope with the increasing demand for testing in order to meet anti-epidemic goals and make it as convenient as possible for the public.

It said the daily distribution quantity of saliva specimen collection packs will be increased from 40,000 to over 50,000 shortly. The utilisation will be closely monitored to make any necessary adjustments.

People can obtain deep throat saliva specimen collection packs from any of the Hospital Authority's (HA) 47 designated general outpatient clinics, post offices and MTR stations.

They should return the specimens to any of the HA's 47 designated general outpatient clinics, the Department of Health's 13 designated clinics or designated specimen collection points at 23 government premises.

The Government said the booking quota of community testing centres has been increased to 26,000 or above, and more manpower has been deployed to serve the public.

It is also working with operators to increase the number of mobile testing stations to divert the demand of different sectors.

Those who visit the community testing centres are reminded to make an online booking in advance to minimise the queuing time.
