Government staff check residents of designated buildings in Sham Shui Po to verify whether they have undergone COVID-19 testing.

The Government today conducted an operation at six buildings in Sham Shui Po which were included in the compulsory testing notices to check whether residents have undergone mandatory testing.

More than 220 residents were checked and 14 were found to have violated the compulsory testing notice. They were issued fixed penalties of $5,000 and will have to undergo testing within a specified period.

The Sham Shui Po District Office, Auxiliary Medical Service and Police mounted the enforcement action on compulsory testing notices between 7am and 10.30am, covering six designated buildings on Tai Nan Street, Kweilin Street, Ki Lung Street, Fuk Wing Street, Yen Chow Street, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Un Chau Street.

Government staff verified the testing certifications of the six buildings’ residents and conducted random checks in the buildings to ascertain whether they have undergone compulsory testing.

The Government said the aim of issuing the compulsory testing notice is to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the community, adding it will not rule out further enforcement actions again in the buildings concerned.
