64 COVID-19 cases reported

January 26, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 64 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 63 are locally transmitted.

Among the local cases, 21 have unknown sources of infection.

The centre's Communicable Disease Branch Head Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan told a press briefing this afternoon that among the unlinked cases, two are in the specified area in Sham Shui Po while two are in Jordan. The remaining cases are from various districts.

She added that three Queen Elizabeth Hospital nurses who tested preliminary positive for COVID-19 yesterday were confirmed today.

Meanwhile, 39 buildings are now covered by compulsory testing notices.

They include Luk Yeung Sun Chuen Block R in Tsuen Wan and Yan Fu House of Tin Fu Court in Tin Shui Wai where confirmed and unlinked cases were found in two or more units, and eight buildings in Kowloon City where sewage samples tested positive.

Other buildings are in the four specified areas in Jordan, Yau Ma Tei/Mong Kok, Hung Hom and Sham Shui Po, where one or more new cases were recorded or sewage samples tested positive.

To facilitate people to undergo mandatory testing, the Government will set up mobile specimen collection stations at Yan Fu House, Wuhu Street Temporary Playground in Hung Hom and Hung Hom Municipal Services Building Sports Centre on January 27.

The service period of the mobile station at Maple Street Playground will be extended to January 30, while the one at Kwun Chung Sports Centre and the mobile specimen collection vehicles at the section of Canton Road between Jordan Road and Saigon Street will also extend their services to February 1.
