A Transport & Housing Bureau assistant clerk of works and a security guard employed by a Housing Department contractor have tested positive for COVID-19 while a Student Finance Office staff has tested preliminary positive, the Government said today.

The assistant clerk of works is with the Independent Checking Unit under the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Transport & Housing (Housing). His office is on 4/F, Lung Cheung Office Block, Wong Tai Sin and it is not open to the public.

He last worked in the office on January 20. He wore masks, followed relevant disease prevention measures and did not have contact with the public recently while performing duties.

The offices on the 4/F of the office block concerned have been fully cleaned and sterilised, while other staff and employees of the outsourced contractor working on the same floor and those who work closely with the clerk have been arranged to undergo viral tests.

Meanwhile, the Housing Department said the security guard, who last worked on January 20, is responsible for patrolling Lai On Estate.

She was notified by the Centre for Health Protection yesterday that she had tested positive for the virus.

The security guard has no recent travel history. She wore a face mask and her body temperature was normal during work.

Lai On Estate's common areas, security control room and estate management office have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

Additionally, the Working Family & Student Financial Assistance Agency reported that a Student Finance Office staff member has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19.

The clerical grade officer works on 11/F, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices and does not have contact with the public in his daily work. He wore masks while performing his duties and properly maintained social distancing.

He last went to work yesterday and developed symptoms that evening. His preliminary test result today was positive.

In consideration of public health and hygiene, the offices on that floor will be closed for thorough cleaning and disinfection. The service counters on the same floor will suspend services until January 28.

Those who have made appointments for counter services will be informed.
