January 21, 2021

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department today announced it initiated prosecution procedures against a catering business operator suspected of breaching anti-epidemic regulations.

The department conducted joint operations with Police in Tsim Sha Tsui on January 20 and inspected 13 catering premises.

One catering business operator in Chungking Mansions is suspected of breaching the requirements and directions under the Prevention & Control of Disease (Requirements & Directions) (Business & Premises) Regulation relating to distancing or partitioning between tables.

It also acted on complaints and inspected three catering premises alleged to have provided dine-in services after 6pm and found that the premises were not in operation.

The department emphasised it will step up enforcement actions and publicity efforts and conduct joint operations with Police.

It reminded catering business operators and members of the public to exercise self-discipline and co-operate to fight COVID-19 together.
