The Centre for Health Protection today announced it is investigating an additional 56 COVID-19 cases, of which 55 are locally transmitted.

At a press briefing this afternoon, the centre's Communicable Disease Branch Head Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan said 22 of the new cases were detected at community testing centres.

She noted that 21 of those cases were identified in the community testing centre or mobile specimen collection stations in Yau Ma Tei.

Dr Chuang said 17 Nepali, two Indian and three Bangladeshi people are involved in the new cases, and 31 of the newly infected patients live in Yau Tsim Mong District.

Twenty-three of the locally transmitted cases have unknown sources of infection.

Regarding the linked cases, Dr Chuang stated that one is from the Central Kowloon Route - Central Tunnel construction site cluster.

A new case was found at Hiu Fung House at Fung Wah Estate in Chai Wan but did not involve unit 13. However, another preliminary positive case involves unit 13 several floors above 12/F. Upon expert advice, all asymptomatic residents of units 13 on 13/F and above will be transferred to quarantine centres.
