All asymptomatic residents of units 09 at Yan Shek House, Shek Yam Estate in Kwai Chung will be issued quarantine orders and taken to quarantine centres while symptomatic residents will be sent to hospital for treatment.

The Department of Health announced the move as five confirmed cases and one preliminary positive case of COVID-19 recently occurred at the housing block, involving units 09 at three different floors.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) is proactively investigating whether the infections are related to stop the risk of a further spread of the virus.

It co-ordinated with related government departments and conducted a site inspection this afternoon of the Yan Shek House floors and units concerned to investigate if environmental factors were involved.

The centre said it took into account the opinions from experts and decided to carry out prudent measures on infection control before the relevant departments completed their inspection of the building's vent pipes.
