Chief Executive Carrie Lam today toured Hong Kong International Airport Midfield Concourse where checks and virus tests are being carried out on inbound travellers.

Mrs Lam was briefed by Department of Health staff on the quarantine procedures such as arranging for travellers to undergo COVID-19 swab tests.

She thanked the Airport Authority for its support in preventing the importation of COVID-19 cases.

Mrs Lam then inspected the temporary hospital under construction next to AsiaWorld-Expo.

She noted the project, which can provide more than 800 beds in negative pressure wards, can be handed over to the Hospital Authority in late January 2021 to prepare for commissioning.

“The temporary hospital will significantly enhance our capability to respond to the epidemic,” Mrs Lam added.
