New tunnel transport reminder issued
The Transport Department today reminded people to pay attention to traffic and public transport arrangements after the commissioning of the Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Tunnel at 8am on December 27.
Motorists in the Tuen Mun area are advised to use routes including Ming Kum Road, Tsing Wun Road and Lung Mun Road to access the tunnel instead of the busier Tuen Mun Road and Wong Chu Road.
Since the traffic flow at the Lung Fu Road roundabout, which is the entrance and exit of the tunnel in Tuen Mun, will be changed, motorists should pay attention to the signage at the scene, reduce speed before entering the roundabout and drive carefully.
Additionally, six bus routes travelling between North Lantau and the Northwest New Territories, namely A33, A33X, A34, E33, E33P and NA33, will be diverted via the tunnel and use the Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Tunnel Bus-Bus Interchange.
The department reminded passengers that the bus routes will no longer travel via the Lantau Link after the diversion.
Visit the department’s website for details of traffic and transport arrangements.
