The Hong Kong Observatory’s MyObservatory app is awarded at the World Meteorological Organization International Weather Apps Awards 2020.

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) today said its MyObservatory app has been awarded at an international weather apps competition.

 

The app won in the “Public weather forecasts & information - information content” category and earned an honourable mention in the “Specialised apps award - weather warnings” category at the World Meteorological Organization International Weather Apps Awards 2020.

 

The organisation is a specialised agency in weather and climate under the United Nations.

 

The awards were organised for the first time this year to recognise well-designed mobile apps that provide reliable weather and climate information. It received more than 110 entries from all over the world.

 

MyObservatory, downloaded more than 8 million times, provides a range of personalised weather information services, including location-based rainfall and lightning forecasts.

 

It also features the trial Dr Tin chatbot service, which lets users enquire about weather information interactively.
