The Hospital Authority today urged confirmed COVID-19 patients to co-operate with healthcare staff to receive appropriate treatment in hospitals and minimise the spread of the virus.

Hospital Authority Chief Manager (Clinical Effectiveness & Technology Management) Dr Linda Yu made the appeal at a press briefing this afternoon in response to an incident involving a confirmed COVID-19 patient who left Queen Elizabeth Hospital without permission yesterday.

She said the patient was stable and conscious, adding that he did not report any symptoms.

“Before he escaped, he did not display any abnormal behaviour and we understand that he went out of his isolation room and then ran out of the isolation ward.

“So we appeal to confirmed patients to co-operate with our healthcare staff to receive appropriate care in the hospital and to minimise the risk of transmitting the infection to the public.”
