Govt reports 2 COVID-19 cases
An Airport Police District officer and a Judiciary backend support staff have preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19, the Government announced today.
Police said the 53-year-old male station sergeant concerned is a dog handler at the Police Dog Unit and stationed at Airport Police District.
He did not have close contacts with the five officers who earlier tested positive or preliminarily positive for the virus.
He received a COVID-19 test yesterday and did not feel unwell at that time.
He had no travel history over the past 14 days and no contact with the public during his daily work. He last attended work yesterday.
Officers who might have come into close contact with the officer concerned have been arranged to undergo quarantine and virus testing.
Arrangements have also been made to clean and disinfect the premises where the officer works.
The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department has arranged for the dog concerned to undergo COVID-19 testing.
The Judiciary said the backend support staff member concerned works in the High Court Building (HCB) where contact with court users is not needed.
The staff felt unwell on December 10 and preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19 today.
The Judiciary had immediately arranged cleansing and disinfection of the court premises, including relevant courtroom, offices and public areas. Relevant cleansing work has been completed and the HCB will open as usual on Monday.
The public can refer to the Judiciary's website for details of confirmed or preliminary positive COVID-19 cases involving staff working on Judiciary premises and court users who have stayed in the court areas for relatively long hours in the past 14 days.
