Mobile virus testing provided

November 23, 2020

The Government has arranged testing agencies to provide free testing services through mobile specimen collection stations and a specimen bottle distribution point in Tsuen Wan, Sai Kung and Tai Po, the Food & Health Bureau announced today.

The arrangement was made after confirmed COVID-19 cases were found in the three districts.

Two testing agencies, BGI and Hong Kong Molecular Pathology Diagnostic Centre, have set up a total of six mobile specimen collection stations and a specimen bottle distribution point in the three districts.

People can visit the mobile collection stations for on-site registration and specimen collection, or the distribution point to obtain specimen bottles and submit deep throat saliva specimens for free COVID-19 testing.

Those who are subject to compulsory testing and undergo testing at the mobile collection stations or through the services provided at the distribution point will be deemed to have undergone a test at a community testing centre.

People whose test results are negative will be informed by SMS.

If a specimen tests positive for COVID-19, it will be referred to the Department of Health’s Public Health Laboratory Services Branch for a confirmatory test. Confirmed cases will be followed up and announced by the Centre for Health Protection.

The Government urged all people who are in doubt about their own health conditions or with infection risks, such as those who visited places with epidemic outbreaks or contacted confirmed cases, to get tested promptly.
