Applications for the EV-charging at Home Subsidy Scheme opened today, the Environment Bureau announced.

The subsidy scheme will assist in the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging‑enabling infrastructure in car parks of private residential buildings.

The Chief Executive announced in the 2019 Policy Address the preparation of a $2 billion pilot subsidy scheme to promote the installation of EV charging-enabling infrastructure in car parks of existing private residential buildings.

The bureau said the scheme will help resolve the technical and financial problems often encountered in installing such infrastructure in car parks of existing private residential buildings.

It is expected that about 60,000 parking spaces will be provided with EV charging‑enabling infrastructure in about three years under the scheme to encourage people with driving needs to switch to EVs.

Representatives from private residential buildings can submit applications through the scheme's website, by mail or in person to the Electric Vehicle Section, Air Policy Division, Environmental Protection Department, Room 1403-05, Chinachem Exchange Square, 1 Hoi Wan Street, Quarry Bay.

Applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis.
