The hinterland side of the Belcher Bay harbourfront open space is designated as an open community garden with facilities including farming racks.

The Belcher Bay harbourfront open space on Shing Sai Road, Kennedy Town fully opened today, providing the public with a round-the-clock leisure space to enjoy a panoramic view of the western waters of Victoria Harbour and the sunset.

The project consists of a promenade and an adjacent open space, formerly a public cargo working area. It covers an area of about 5,900 sq m.

The harbourfront is a six-minute walk from Exit A of MTR Kennedy Town Station. The promenade is built with a boardwalk of 172 m in length and opened in March last year.

The boardwalk, together with colourful weaving installations along the railing and beautiful hoarding panels, has become a popular check-in spot on social media. The remaining portion of the space which opened today provides facilities, including sheltered seating and landscaping.

People can enjoy the facilities with their leashed pets or let their pets play freely in the pet corner.

The hinterland side of the open space, covering an area of about 2,000 sq m, has been allocated to a non-governmental organisation to run an open community garden, the first urban leisure farm in Hong Kong combining hydroponics, aquaponics and organic farming.

Facilities in the first phase of the garden, including outdoor classrooms, a multipurpose area and farming racks, are open to the public. The remaining part of the garden is expected to gradually open next year.
