Anti-epidemic fund committee meets
Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung today chaired the Anti-epidemic Fund Steering Committee’s sixth meeting, during which members deliberated and approved the funding commitment for the 26 measures under the third-round of the fund.
The Legislative Council Finance Committee approved yesterday an injection of $5.4 billion to the fund to roll out the third-round measures to enhance Hong Kong’s anti-epidemic capability.
The measures also provide relief to businesses and individuals hard hit by the epidemic and directly affected by the Government’s anti-epidemic and social distancing measures.
Mr Cheung said together with the 26 measures approved by the steering committee today, around 100 measures were approved under the three-round fund, with a total commitment of more than $150 billion.
He added that he had asked bureaus and departments to implement the third-round measures as soon as possible to provide timely assistance and relief to relevant sectors and individuals.
