July goods exports drop 2.3%

The volume of Hong Kong's total goods exports decreased by 2.3% year-on-year in July, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

 

The volume of goods imports for the month fell 2.2% compared to the same period last year.

 

Prices of goods exports and imports decreased 0.5% and 0.9% year-on-year for the month.

 

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of goods exports increased 1.1% in the three-month period ending July compared with the preceding three months, while the volume of goods imports rose 1.5%.

 

Comparing the first seven months of 2020 with the same period in 2019, the volume of goods exports fell 5.6%, while that of goods imports dropped 7.6%.

 

Prices of goods exports for the period decreased 0.8%, while that of goods imports fell 0.7%.
