1.6m take virus test

A total of about 1,623,000 people have been tested under the Universal Community Testing Programme so far, the Government announced today.

 

On the 11th day of the programme, a total of 96,000 people went to community testing centres across the city to have their specimens taken.

 

A total of about 1,327,000 people have made appointments to take part in the programme to date.

 

As at 8pm, about 1,448,000 specimens collected under the programme had been tested.

 

Specimens that test positive for COVID-19 will be referred to the Department of Health’s Public Health Laboratory Services Branch for confirmatory tests.

 

Confirmed cases will be followed up and announced by the Centre for Health Protection.

 

So far, there have been 277 cases of personal data being used by others for online booking under the programme.

 

After examination, 153 of the cases were found to involve suspected fraudulent use of others' personal data for booking and they have been referred to Police.
