The Water Supplies Department today said that one more staff member of its subcontractor who worked at the construction site of Tong Hang No 3 Fresh Water Service Reservoir in Fanling has tested positive for COVID-19.

The department said the contractor notified it of the update.

After a staff member of the subcontractor had tested positive for the virus on August 8, nine staff members who had close contact with the patient were arranged to stay at quarantine centres by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP). Three of them tested positive earlier and one more was confirmed to be infected today.

All five infected staff members are undergoing treatment, while the test results of other project personnel are all negative.

The onsite operations of the project, including the site office, has been suspended. The contractor has also thoroughly cleaned and disinfected the site.

The department added that it will maintain close liaison with the CHP and has reminded all project personnel to pay attention to their hygiene.
