The Government is closely monitoring the epidemic situation and will review the existing infection control measures from time to time to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

Under Secretary for Food & Health Dr Chui Tak-yi made the remarks at a press briefing today, adding that the Government needed to consider different factors when enhancing virus control measures.

"The Government has been closely observing a number of variables. For example, the new COVID-19 cases, whether there is any presence of clusters, the speed of its spread, and also the existing control measures in terms of testing, quarantine and medical provision facilities. So it is a whole package of things that the Government has to pay attention to very closely.

"Indeed in the past few weeks - I mean since early July - we have been reviewing, revising and establishing new regulations, and also administrative measures in enhancing the control of the virus, especially in suppressing the possibility of its spread."

Noting the Government will remain cautious about the potential of a further increase in the outbreak, Dr Chui reminded members of the public to stay at home as far as possible and avoid gatherings.
