Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital announced that a 95-year-old female COVID-19 patient passed away this evening, taking the number of COVID-19 patients who have died in public hospitals to eight.

The patient (case number 1,341) had chronic diseases and was admitted to the hospital on July 10. She had no active symptoms on admission and her condition was stable.

Her condition deteriorated rapidly on July 11 and she required oxygen and drug therapy. The patient eventually succumbed to the disease this evening.
