Subsidy for vehicle workshops set

June 22, 2020

The Anti-epidemic Fund will cover vehicle maintenance workshops by granting a one-off non-accountable subsidy of $50,000 to each eligible workshop, the Government announced today.

Eligible vehicle maintenance workshops can submit applications regardless of their registration status under the Voluntary Registration Scheme for Vehicle Maintenance Workshops.

Workshops that wish to apply for the subsidy must have operated in a fixed place on or before February 1 and be in operation on the day of application.

Applicants will have to provide records of operation during the period from February 1 to May 31, such as information about the employed vehicle mechanics, vehicle maintenance service records, and electricity or water bills.

Workshops that benefited from the Retail Sector Subsidy Scheme under the Anti-epidemic Fund will not be subsidised in this exercise.

The Electrical & Mechanical Services Department will soon announce the arrangements, including the application period and procedures and the required documents.
