April exports down 3.7%

The value of Hong Kong's total exports decreased to $309.5 billion in April, down 3.7% compared with the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

 

The value of imports of goods decreased 6.7% to $332.8 billion year-on-year in the same period.

 

A trade deficit of $23.3 billion, or 7% of the value of imports, was recorded for the month.

 

Comparing the three-month period ending April with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of exports fell 0.8%, while that of imports decreased 4%.
