Gov't studying pay adjustment
The results of the Pay Trend Survey do not solely determine the annual civil service pay adjustment and many other factors will also be looked into by the Government before making a decision.
Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip made the statement when speaking to reporters at the Legislative Council this afternoon.
The 2020 Pay Trend Survey Report was released yesterday, showing gross pay trend indicators for various civil servant salary bands.
Mr Nip said: “In reaching the decision, we would look at not just the Pay Trend Survey results, but also the other relevant factors, including the state of the Hong Kong economy, the Government’s fiscal position, changes in the cost of living, and of course also the claims by the staff side and also the possible impact on the morale of the civil service.
“So you would note that these factors are very comprehensive and in reaching a decision, we need to consider all these factors and then take a view on it.”
