More HZMB private car quotas set

October 24, 2019

The Guangdong and Hong Kong governments have agreed to increase the regular quotas for Hong Kong cross-boundary private cars using the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge by 5,000, the Transport Department announced today.

The department said traffic flow in the vicinity of the bridge’s Hong Kong Port has been generally smooth since its commissioning, adding the decision was made to enhance the road traffic between Guangdong and Hong Kong and better utilise the bridge.

The additional regular quota will be processed and regulated under new management measures as implemented from April 15 by the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department (GDPSD).

People who meet the criteria may submit their applications to the GDPSD from November 18.

Upon receipt of the approval notice for using the bridge issued by the GDPSD, applicants must apply for the closed road permit from the Cross Boundary Unit of the Transport Department.
