Police call for lawful behaviour

August 8, 2019

The Police today called on protesters who plan to stage an assembly in the airport to abide by the law.

Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent Tse Chun-chung said there will be protests and public order events in different districts in the coming days, including a large gathering at the Hong Kong International Airport from Friday to Sunday.

“The international airport is a very busy place. Although the past public gatherings held there had been peaceful, we have seen an escalation of violence used by protesters on other occasions over the past weeks.

“We are aware that recently several countries have issued travel warnings to Hong Kong, urging their citizens to exercise caution.

“Therefore, if any protesters will stage protest at the airport, I hope they will be peaceful and law-abiding. They should not commit any disorderly acts that will affect both citizens and visitors."

Mr Tse also reminded people who plan to travel in the next few days to monitor the latest information from the airport and airlines and to mind their safety.
