Gov’t heeds public opinion

Secretary for Security John Lee:
I hope everybody understands that Hong Kong is the home of each one of us. We all want to make it better. We will take into consideration all of the aspirations, views and opinions of the different sectors of the public, in particular, as the Chief Executive has said many times, opinions of our young people. We hope that through what we do in these coming three years, we will let people understand the good intention of the Government to ensure that Hong Kong will progress in accordance with the aspirations and wishes of the people.
In regard to the different complaints regarding Police action, we have a long-established system of the Independent Police Complaints Council which will monitor and scrutinise the investigations conducted by the Complaints Against Police Office.

The Government will take into consideration the aspirations, views and opinions from different sectors of the public, in particular young people.

Secretary for Security John Lee made the statement when meeting the media with Commissioner of Police Stephen Lo today.
