Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung visited Lo Wu Correctional Institution today to get an update on the development of a smart prison system.

The system aims to boost the Correctional Services Department’s operational efficiency and institutional management through application of innovation and technology.

It will also strengthen the department's readiness in emergency response and facilitate its long-term strategic planning.

During the visit, Mr Cheung learned about the trial of the Health Signs Monitoring and Passage Surveillance Systems at the institution.

He commended the department’s efforts in developing the smart prison system to cope with the complex and ever-changing social environment.
