KS Wong inspects waste charging trial

February 28, 2019

Secretary for the Environment KS Wong visited a housing estate in Fanling today to learn about the trial on municipal solid waste charging.

Mr Wong inspected relevant facilities in Ka Fuk Estate and chatted with residents joining the trial about their experience in practising waste reduction at source and clean recycling.

He said to prepare for the implementation of waste charging, extensive public education, publicity and engagement drives will be rolled out. The Government will also work closely with stakeholders.

Mr Wong then visited the Federation of Youth Groups Leadership Institute, which is housed in a revitalised historic building - the Former Fanling Magistracy.

He encouraged young people to help combat climate change by practising waste and carbon reduction in their daily lives.

Mr Wong also met North District Council members to exchange views on environmental issues.
