KS Wong visits Tai Po

Secretary for the Environment KS Wong (third right) tours the Environmental Education & Organic Farm in Tai Po.
Secretary for the Environment KS Wong today visited Tsz Shan Monastery and an organic farm that was set up by three schools during a visit to Tai Po.
Mr Wong first visited the hillside Tsz Shan Monastery which uses water offerings as tributes to Buddha instead of incense offerings.
The water is reused for irrigation to conserve resources and reduce waste and carbon emissions.
He then went to the Environmental Education & Organic Farm on Tung Leung Lane.
With financial assistance from the Environment & Conservation Fund, the farm is used for educational purposes by students, teachers and parents of the three schools that set it up.
The farm is also open to other schools and community organisations.
Mr Wong spoke with students there and encouraged them to promote sustainable development and practise waste-less and low-carbon living.
He also met Tai Po District Councillors.
