Solar power installation notes launched
The Government launched the Guidance Notes for Solar Photovoltaic System Installation today.
The guidance notes cover the detailed requirements for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on rooftops of village houses in the New Territories.
Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced in the 2018 Policy Address and Policy Agenda that further support and facilitation would be provided for individuals and organisations participating in renewable energy development, including suitably relaxing restrictions on the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on the rooftops of village houses.
The notes also assist people in understanding issues relating to the Feed-in Tariff application procedures.
One of the two power companies introduced its Feed-in Tariff Scheme in October, while another one will roll out its plan in January.
The initial response from the community has been positive, with around 500 applications received by the two power companies by the end of September.
To combat climate change, the Government is actively promoting the development of renewable energy.
The Government said it will consider making relaxations for rooftops of other private buildings, in particular low-rise ones.
It will also continue to launch various measures to encourage the community to join hands in fostering renewable energy development.
