Cyber security scheme launched

September 24, 2018

The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer has launched the Cybersec Infohub, a two-year pilot programme to promote cyber security information exchange among public and private sectors and the community.

Companies and organisations with a Hong Kong business address that manage electronic communications networks and have operational needs for cyber security information, irrespective of size, are eligible to become programme members for free.

Cybersechub.hk, the first cross-sector cyber security information sharing and collaborative platform in Hong Kong, was also launched under the programme for members to share information, advice and expert insights on topics such as mitigation measures and best practices with cyber security experts from different industries.

The public can obtain such professional information via the platform's Public Zone, making information sharing multi-directional.

The platform strictly complies with the Government's security policies and guidelines, and adopts two-step verification for login and industry standards for cyber security information sharing so that members can share information and collaborate with other experts securely.

Launching the pilot programme today, Government Chief Information Officer Victor Lam said he hopes the Cybersec Infohub could build up a collaborative culture and closer partnership in the local industry to facilitate more effective and prompt reaction to cyber attacks.

Currently, 229 representatives from 81 companies and organisations including cyber security firms, tertiary institutions, information technology professional associations, telecommunications and Internet service providers, have registered with the Infohub.

Mr Lam said artificial intelligence elements will be introduced to the platform to assist members in the integration and analysis of cyber security information to facilitate easier and faster acquisition of required information by experts and timely dissemination of the information.

The Cybersec Infohub is managed by the OGCIO with funding support from the Innovation & Technology Bureau.
