Applications for the quota for operating hire car services between Hong Kong and Macau using the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will open on September 24, the Transport Department announced today.

A quota of 100 for operators in Hong Kong and Macau will be issued to operate Hong Kong/Macau cross-boundary hire car services.

The Hong Kong Government will issue a quota of 60, while Macau will issue 40.

An operator allocated under the quota can operate hire car services for carriage of passengers for reward between Hong Kong and Macau via the bridge.

Applicants should have at least two years' experience in operating local or cross-boundary hire car services, or have possessed a permit for at least two years for operating cross-boundary services between Hong Kong and Guangdong Province.

Applications should be submitted in the name of the hire car operators.

The deadline for application is 5pm on October 15.

The application form can be downloaded from the Transport Department website from 10am on September 24.
