CS visits Dept of Health centres
Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung toured an Elderly Health Centre and Maternal & Child Health Centre under the Department of Health today.
Accompanied by Director of Health Constance Chan, he visited the Wan Chai Elderly Health Centre at Southorn Centre where he toured the venue’s facilities and was briefed on its clinical, outreach and public health services.
The department’s 18 Elderly Health Centres provide primary health care for seniors aged 65 and above. Mr Cheung was pleased to learn the centres adopt a cross-disciplinary approach to provide care for the elderly under a family medicine setting.
He also visited the Tang Chi Ngong Maternal & Child Health Centre at Tang Chi Ngong Specialist Clinic where he was briefed on the various services such centres provide.
The department’s 31 Maternal & Child Health Centres offer services covering child health, maternal services, family planning and cervical screening.
Mr Cheung commended them for providing immunisation vaccinations for infants and children, as well as child health and developmental monitoring.
During the visit he also met front-line officers and encouraged them to continue serving the public with professionalism and dedication.
