Modular housing plan supported

The Commission on Poverty today agreed to launch the Subsidy to Purchase & Construct Modular Housing as a pilot scheme to provide transitional community homes.

 

Under the scheme, the Council of Social Service will be subsidised to build modular housing on Nam Cheong Street, Sham Shui Po.

 

The two-year pilot scheme with an overall provision of $35.74 million will benefit 90 households.

 

Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung chaired the commission's meeting today, the last meeting of its current term.

 

The commission also endorsed the extension of five assistance programmes of the Community Care Fund.

 

It approved the introduction of new drugs or medical devices and the revision of provision for three medical assistance programmes.
