Latest trend:  Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So visits the Kangan Institute's Fashion & Creative Industries Centre.

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So continued his Australian tour today by visiting an education institute and meeting business leaders in Melbourne.

Mr So toured the Kangan Institute’s Centre for Fashion & Creative Industries and the Textile & Fashion Hub, which provide the latest technologies for small and medium enterprises and students.

He met with the institute’s Interim Chief Executive Officer Amanda Brook and delegates from the Council of Textile & Fashion Industries of Australia.

Mr So then attended a Business Council of Australia boardroom lunch, where he noted that Hong Kong was Australia's sixth-largest source of investment as of 2014 with a total investment of $437 billion, while trade in goods and services reached more than $48 billion.

He discussed the business opportunities Hong Kong can offer Australian investors under the "One Belt, One Road" initiatives and encouraged Australian business delegations to make use of Hong Kong's many trade shows to reach buyers from Mainland China and other parts of the world.

Mr So later met with Victoria's Minister for Tourism & Major Events, Minister for Sport and Minister for Veterans John Eren, and called on Chinese Consul-General Song Yumin.
