Police firm on upholding law, order

November 05, 2014

Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent Steve Hui says the force is a professional and responsible law enforcement agency, and duty bound to maintain Hong Kong’s law and order.

Mr Hui said Police have all along displayed utmost tolerance and restraint in handling the illegal occupation because they do not want to see a large number of people injured, especially students.

As conflicts and crime are occurring every day in occupied areas, he called for people to stay away from them, particularly Mong Kok.

People should express their opinions in a peaceful and rational manner.

He added the protracted illegal occupation has adversely affected the public, and urged people to stop blocking roads and leave peacefully to ensure their personal safety and restore public order.
