Lok Kwan-hoi today won Hong Kong's first gold medal for rowing at an Asian Games event.
Chief Executive CY Leung and Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing extended their congratulations to him for taking gold in the Lightweight Men's Single Sculls Competition in Incheon.
"Lok Kwan-hoi has strived for excellence. Hong Kong people are all very proud of his outstanding performance," Mr Leung said.
Adding to Hong Kong's impressive medals table was the rowing team of Chow Kwong-wing and Tang Chiu-mang who won silver in the Lightweight Men's Double Sculls.
Fellow rower Lee Ka-man picked up silver in the Women's Single Sculls.
The Hong Kong fencing team continued its winning streak, with Cheng Hiu-lam, Kimberley Cheung, Lin Po-heung and Liu Yan-wai winning bronze for the Women's Foil Team event.
Mr Tsang said the athletes displayed great perseverance, tenacity and sportsmanship.
"Hong Kong people are proud of their outstanding achievements."
Both Mr Leung and Mr Tsang wished all the athletes success in the forthcoming competitions.
The Hong Kong team has won 15 medals so far - two gold, three silver and 10 bronze.
