November 15, 2012
Chief Secretary Carrie Lam continued her London visit yesterday, updating various officials and professionals on Hong Kong's latest developments.

Mrs Lam met with Sotheby's Institute of Art Director Professor Jos Hackforth-Jones to explore areas of collaboration in art training and education in Hong Kong, and later visited the White Cube, a leading contemporary art gallery.

Mrs Lam then met London Lord Mayor Alderman Roger Gifford to discuss forging stronger economic ties between Hong Kong and the British capital, particularly in maritime and legal services.

At the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ luncheon, Mrs Lam provided an update on various development projects in Hong Kong, such as the West Kowloon Cultural District, the Kai Tak development, Energising Kowloon East, and heritage revitalisation initiatives.

She was given an honorary membership of the institution for her contribution to the development of Hong Kong's land, property, and construction industries in her previous post as Secretary for Development.

Mrs Lam also briefed 130 participants at a seminar hosted by the London branch of the Institute of Directors, on Hong Kong's role as an international finance centre, and opportunities for professional and legal services under the Mainland & Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement.

Mrs Lam joined Minister of State for Trade & Investment Lord Green as guests of honour at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council's annual dinner. In her keynote speech, she updated 330 guests on the latest economic and social developments in Hong Kong.

She also met with British Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, and discussed co-operation between Hong Kong and the UK.

Mrs Lam will travel to Madrid today.
