The Education Bureau today issued a circular to schools on the guidelines on homework and tests.
Secretary for Education Eddie Ng said the guidelines state that schools should refer to the school context and student needs, and try to arrange time within lessons for students to complete part of their homework under teachers' guidance.
Mr Ng told reporters after attending a radio programme today the guidelines help schools set homework quantity and quality to reach effective learning without drilling.
He also noted that a committee under the bureau will review the Territory-wide System Assessment and will give a report within three months.
